Well for me and eggs its nearly over, just maybe a few more Perlin eggs to hatch. The last 3 Peregrine eggs hatched yesterday along with a merlin egg containing a perlin. Its been a season with highs and lows, everything was really late coming in, or I was just lazy and lacked motivation due to bird flu which faded away in the end with out a ripple. Its also been a season where I have learnt quite a bit, found out several do's and don'ts all at a price but still it all bodes well for the future. Well heres the last of the bunch including
A chick out of a Peales X Scottish falcon I have only waited 6 or so years for :( out of Smokin Joe it Should be dark and look a Stunner But I will have to wait and see. I hope everyones who as put the effort into breeding a few hawks and falcons has had a good season. And all, picking up a new eyass good luck for the season.

My worst year since I started in 1983.......
Got some nice birds but very small numbers compared to other years.
Loads of infertile eggs due birds getting older, not being around at the right time to force inseminate, Peregrines just practising, etc.
Roll on my imprints to maturity I say? I am hoping they are going to help anyway!!
Cheers

Hello Andy
I know very little about pairs, all my falcons are imprints. I did well on fertilty.
Just lost eggs under falcons for various reasons. I did reasonabley well with artificial incubation. Was you're Birds late coming in?

I didn't notice any difference in the dates they laid etc and the males seemed up for it as usual. The older pair had two clutches - two fertile in the first clutch and none in the second. These have been breeding for the past 7 or 8 years no problem, often producing 8 birds. I had 6 from them last year but the female is really getting old now and it shows...
I will manage the pair that I force inseminate differently and swap some others around. Yes there's always next year....
My imprints will only be 2 next season so I will be lucky if she lays I think.
Cheers
Andy
