Hi All

This is a hood I did for "The Zuffler" (Phil), a size 52S........ I think its effective :supz: All edges are filed and smooth and its fully lined with roo with a Dutch hood style sewn in throat strap. Phil provided the Stingray skin.... I provided the service.

Griff,

Sorry meant to ask about the anglo-indian style. I have had a couple of these which my bird at the time was able to get off quite easily. The dutch style on the other hand he was unable to remove. In you experience have you found this to be the case.

Regards,

Mark.

Yes I have.... infact the day before yesterday a forum member brought round an imprint that has worked out how to scratch off a Dutch hood (leather braces) and a Slijper hood (with nylon braces)...... so I put on a Slijper with leather braces that were stiff and that did the trick..... for 48 hours .... but constant scratching and getting its talon around the edge of the hood opening meant that little by little he has managed to open the hood to a point where he can scratch it off completley (and these were stiff leather braces).

Solution: I am sewing in a "Bra" hook just above the braces and sewing in a leather tag that will "Hook" the back of the hood shut in an effort to stop the eventual opening of the hood after persistant scratching.

BTW the imprint was not hooded at all through the imprint process and is a late starter ...... it screams like ******y without the hood.... so its essential that its hooded to keep the bloody thing quiet!

Griff have you ever seen a ahood where the braces ( leather) are stitched to the side of the hood like this? I have had this hood 4 years and have wondered if this may be the way to go as it has not loosened in that time

Hi Julian

Yes I have seen this style of brace..... its used extensivley in Spain. I have not tried it myself (although I have the pattern for them). I am not sure even this style of brace would work on the Imprint problem .... as its not the brace its going for ....its the edge of the hood opening that its hooking its talon around.... and little by little its opening the hood to a point where it can take it off completley.
