Hello i would like to knwo if anyone could help me and give me any tips in the hunting.

I have a Harris and I'm hunting rabbits with him, he have no problems hunting at tree less spaces but I found and area near my house that it filled with rabbits but its a kind of a xerophyte forrest, and my hawk after he see the rabbit goes after it but he abandon the chase if the rabbit gets between the cactus of other xerophyte trees.
Can any one tell me a tip about what to do so he doesn't abondon the prey?

Thanks........

Lower his weight slowly untill he does catch...Then get him consistantly catching in the trees. Once he is doing that you can raise is weight back up.

P.S. This is just a General comment. I have never seen your bird, so it is hard to give advise like this. Just be careful, because you are in charge of your birds health not me.

The harris is a clever bird he may not want to injure himself on the spines and will look for easyer quarry, How late does he pull out or does he give up early.?
Keep trying he will learn in the end.

what i say is the more practce the better, once he gets used to it, he will progress after a while, and get more confident in his flying skills, just keep perservering, and maybe drop his weight a little if you have enough leweigh to do so... stu

Thanks to you all, my bird flying wheight is 570 gr, he suddenly make a catch but not so frecuent and big as he use to. he give up quite early just after the rabbit gets between the cactus, after that he goes and stop in the top of the trees but he doesn't continue the chasing.
