Hi Stu...........This will be my first attempt at breeding from an Imprint Gloden Eagle. I have over the years had a number of Eagles and paired some of them up for breeding with limited success.
I am looking forward to the challenge  I had intended sending her up to K to go into his project but I am now being offered other Goldies and I am considering takeing on another 2 or 3 and breeding in house.
Watch this space and we will see how it progresses over the next few months

What's she weighing in at Terry...:D
She was 12 1/2lbs yesterday empty I am going to bring her down a little as I want to keep her out for a while so I can handle her and try to form a good bond between us. It is a bit different to handeling a 4lb Gyr Falcon or a 1lb Barbary M8 on the odd occasion when she bates it feels like my shoulder is going to dislocate.

Really nice looking goldie u got there, Terry. What subspecies is she? And is it true that imprinted eagles are nightmares?
I ask because my deceased friend Noorullah Khan had a female that he took as a downie from the mountains near his house (a few hours drive, walk and climb away), and she was a very well behaved bird. Quite tame too, unless you happened to be hare or a fox. He had tame hacked this bird from his country house, and she would follow him all over the place.
I think he ultimately let her go back into the wild, when he first fell seriously ill several years ago. What he accomplished with that eagle, no one in Pakistan, had ever done that before him, and I doubt if anyone will after him either.
BTW, I will be going out looking for a passage Bonelli's to trap, so wish me luck.

Bonelli's trapping is on hold for a couple of days as the gearbox on my Jeep has started acting up. So cant go out into th boonsdocks, till I get that fixed.
Will keep all of you posted on the progress on this front and will post pics too.

Hi Turumti..............The Goldie is as far as we can tell a Aquila Chrysaetos Daphanea she is 10 years old and captive bred in Germany. I can't say so far that she has displayed any bad temper towards us, a little uncertainty to start with but now she has settled down a bit she is fine, her last owner could handle her without a glove but I am not bold enough to try that just yet.
You may remember earlier this year I put up a post looking for Golden Eagle semen well this is the bird that was to be inseminated with that semen. My friend who owned her had a domestic with his wife as she did not want him to breed from Heidi in her garden, so after a couple of months of conversations with him he agreed we could have her and try to breed from her. I paid a fair price for her. I was intending to put her at K's place for breeding but I have now been offered more Imprinted Golden Eagles so I am intending to try and breed from her here and hopefully by this time next year we will have some chicks. This bird was calling for mateing earlier on this year and my friend was just playing with her and she just laid an egg into his hand.
Good luck with the Bonelli's hope you are lucky, this is the other species I want to try and breed from, I had a Female about 10 years ago and she was brilliant as a Hare Hawk.
Look forward to seeing you in Abu Dhabi in September and we can chat more about it then.
Regards
Terry

Hi Andy she has been laying eggs since she was 7 years old but has never been pushed into it and she was never even given a Nest just a food platform.
