Not a chance - everything was late starting this year. The harris will be starting the season only half moulted at this rate!

wings are nearly all there, decks are just 2" long and no other tail feathers gone yet (last year he dropped his whole tail first then only dropped half his wings) and i have 3/4 filled a carrier bag with contour and downy feathers so far

My wee MHH was going well for a while ,his two decks are down fully but thats all on the tail !, he's dropped and replaced a couple of primaries and lot of chest feathers and few on the back .but now nothing!, its all slowed wayyyyyyyy down , whats the craic there ?, is this normal ? the wee git has been up for moult since his rat bite incident in december ....since we couldn't hunt him while his foot was healing we put him up to moult .

I take it you're feeding him up n leaving him alone!?If that is the case then look at the light period and how much sunlight your bird gets(i presume he's fit n healthy so no clues there) Naturally the extended light period and a much easier food source will stimulate the moult.

he's getting excellent lighting , from early morning sun rise right through most of day , he's getting good variety diet .and he's left alone ..........what more can a fella do ?. Its not really annoying me that much yet .just thought he ought to be over the most of it by now he's two months to get his finger out !!!!!!

i'm having same probs as midge, the moult started well but has slowed down, i'm making slight adjustment to her diet, she's fed rat, quail, and d.o.c.'s,what i'll do is feed rat and quail more frequently, and hopefully the richer diet will get her going a gain, this method worked last year with only one draw back, her weight rocketed to over 3lb don't know how high exactly as i only had 3lb in weights, not a great problem but bringing her back down took for ever. so i'll monitor her intake alot more closely this time, for those who don't know me my bird is a female harris' hawk, her deck is well underway but her wings are on a go slow, i'm in no hurry as my land is all crops and they wont be cut till september/october time at the earliest.
