I think you may find that particing falconry in Australia is not legal.
Funny you can blast cockatoo's with a 12 guage but you cant keep a hawk to "scare" them off.
Welcome and its all about fun in the end :-)

I am not aware of Falconry being illegal in my country. All i wanted to do was have another responsible past time in my life.I am moving on to my property at the end of this year for good it is 500 acres of land thats why the sport of Falconry.I am indegous person of Australia and as i have already stated i hunt kangaroo to eat and for my dogs the skins i tan so nothing is wasted and kangaroo are a plauge over here at the moment as they are eating all the feed for the cattle.I will check and find if it is illegal but i can not understand that when people have come to me and asked me to make hoods for their hunting birds and also lacing strips. You would think being the real land holders off this country i could be stoped doing something i have always dreamed off. That might sound stupid who already do the sport but i have not even tried.:supz:

Hunter, hate to put the damper on your idea m8, but lifted this from the wikepedia encyclopedia
In Australia, although falconry is not specifically illegal, it is illegal to keep any type of bird of prey in captivity. The only exemption is when the birds are kept for purposes of rehabilitation (for which a licence must still be held), circumstances under which the practice can be an effective tool used in returning a bird to health.
Sorry m8.

From the message i recieved today it does not look like i can have my passion of all sports falconry.I have also spoken to people i have helped years ago with certain equipment and they also stated the same it is illegal in Australia to have hunting birds. They get around that because they love the sport but i cant do something which is illegal only because of the sake of the birds. To have a sport like this you need the best of care for the bird and without help i could not achive that.So it is a waste of time me being in the forum so yous guys dont have to answer my stupid question any more i will sign of for the last time and say thanks for the help Hunter Tony:heart: :supz:

Thats a shame hunter. There must be ways round it- vets always need people to house injured and young BOP, you could fly them under the guise of rehabilitation. The handy thing bout oz is that your nearest neighbour is about 5000miles away! whos to know what you do!
"President" blair banned foxhunting but people still get round it legally, and when they ban falconry in this country, which i think may come if labour get in again, i for one will not give up without a fight!
As the australians say- Wheres ya spunk!

Thank you also for your message .As i said before i mainly work out of Sydney but i have around 500acres outside Brisbane and a house shed and three dams on it it would be easy to fly birds from up home but the only way i can explan this is i have two dogs both rockwheelers i have had them since pups if they need the vet i take them the same with the cattle i have on the land but then i call the vet to come out if i had birds or even one bird i would one day have to take it to the vet and because it is against the law the bird would be taken of me .:supz:
