Hi!

I' m a German guy and a falconer since I was 12. Have flown some falcons (just to the lure) and Sparrowhawks. My main interest is on the goshawk of which I have already flown two tiercles. Since 2004 it seems I have got the bird of my life. She is a female german gos and has catched many brown hares, rabbits, phesants (and some common buzzards). She is not always easy to handle but an awesome predator. Her hunting weight is about 1050 to 1100 g at hares.
I'm currently studying Forest science nearby munich.

For my probably worse english I apologize.

Good luck in falconry, or as the german falconers say: "Falknersheil"!

My aim at the moment is to gain as much info and training as possible before i even think about practising the sport. Hi!
She is a typical bavarian goshawk. She was taken out of the nest at the age of ~ 24 days. I had luck, because permissions are rare and captive bred goshawks are not cheap for a student:yawinkle:

Hi Jastreb!

Nice to hear of another forester!
Currently I'm working at my diploma thesis (very old trees in the bavarian forest - growth analysis etc...). What bird do you fly? I suppose a gos:D

Hiya,
Yeah a bit of goshawking
You have very nice bird there, reconsider a chance to be at our meeting in November, I know that you have long tradition in flying goshawks in Germany.
I am working on Department of Forest protection and Wildlife management. Mine is Wildlife management.
Do you have lots of rabbits there?
Cheers Viktor

Hi Jastreb!

There are many rabbits in some regions but in the area where we go hawking, the rabbits got very rare because of a disease (not myxomatosis; I think it is RHD?). This winter I catched only 14 rabbits. I mainly try at hares which are earned much harder than rabbits, but it works (10 last season). Sometimes I had a try on phesants, but my gos could only take one the last season. I know, these are not the best results, but in view of my rare hunting possibilities I think it's o.k. (my tiercles before where never successful!).
When is your field meet?
