think golden valley offer you half the price you paid for your bird should you loose it to help towards another etc... may be another company i'm thinking of tho.

u heard a saying deathfromabove mate dont pay through the TEETH for insurance :D or woz it dont pay through the nose for insurance haha

sorry couldnt help it

mate i phoned golden valley up today, very good indeed

just a rough quote i phoned forthe value off up to 500 quid just to cover the bird, 3rd party liablity they dont deal with but others do

that covers the vet bills, death coz of illness or anything and covers theft and if the bird doesnt come back they cover 50 % off it, thats cool

and 12.50 excess as well, excellent it came to 118 quid a yr

thats the one i will be going for me thinks

Has anyone got some experience from outside the UK with any of these UK-based insurance companies?

I assume that subscribing and paying the premiums works fine  ... but what about the potential claims?

Cheers,

Jan

I've claimed vets bills only once and the reimbursement of my costs was almost immediate. Recently someone told me that Golden Valley don't insure you if your bird is flying at vermin i.e. Rabbits, crows etc. I contacted GV to discuss this as my birds fly both the above. You are covered for all eventualities death, injury or loss. However I have never had to claim for a lost bird or an injury in the field. My concern would be how do you prove a lost bird.

Nevertheless I would recommend GV to anyone flying birds.

I'm with Exotic Direct and have been for the past 4 years; I've made 2 claims and both were paid out within 7 days and no quibble. My 2 new birds will be going through them, and after speaking with them yesterday, there are other options to reduce the premiums but 'share' the policy.

At present, my Saker and HH are insured seperately, with £1500 vets bills each. To cut the cost down, they have said that I can put all 4 birds on one policy, still £1500 vets fees per year but shared between all 4 birds..................................in other words, instead of taking out 4 seperate policies at around £70 - £100 per bird, I can take out 1 policy to the same equivelant value but they are only covered for the 1500 vets fees between them.
The way I see it, is in 4 years, I've only made 2 claims on 3 birds; 1 was the HH for a touch of frounce, and the second was when little Loco died. What is the chance of all 4 birds being ill in the one year???
