I wish to change the anklets on my Buzzard, as they are quiet dry and very stiff, I have tried treating them but it hasn't made a lot of difference. I'm confident that I can I fit new ones with the bird on someones fist, but was wondering what is the safest method of removing the old ones, I'm thinking of a sharp snips! any advice?

I just use sizzors. There should be enough space to slip the rounded side between the leg and anklet for a quick snip

except I can't spell it:oops:

Just make sure they are sharp and thin. Quickest way.

even simpler way is to just snip the eyelet flap off mate as it's only the eyelet holding them together... saves trying to get scissors between leg and leather risking poss injury (know the actual risk is slight butit's still there)

HTH :D

P.S. Very sharp strong scissors or snips are a must - the flimsy ones just don't cut it.... lol

Cut the eyelets with good strong snips/wire cutters. No chance of injuring the bird, and it's quick

And it is worth thinking about fitting the false, loop through style almyri anklets.
They can be fitted in seconds.

:supz: I fit them thro the molt when I dont oil the equipment, oil it every day when bird is hunting. Also use them as I can fit them without a second pair of hands or casting, plus some times in winter I use squirrel anklets so I want to be ables to swap from one kind to other. Just hold the 2 sets of eyelets with v.thin quite short, flying jess.
