Hi
Ive been interested in falconry for longer than i can remember Ive been searching for a Club for just as long too,
Ive never owed a B.O.P. due to the laws here in Ireland but as i understand it these have changed greatly in the past few years
Are there any members of this board from N.Ireland that can put me straight on whats needed who to contact and so forth id be most grateful

hi and welcome .hope you enjoy this forum and find what you are looking for.
hi andy,
there is one club here, north and south. although only about 20 in the north, so we need more :) for an application form go to their site. www.irishhawkingclub.com (http://www.irishhawkingclub.com) there a few members around the belfast area including myself. there is much restrictions here in the north for flying non native birds, such as the harris. but down south its alot more difficult to obtain one.

Hi Andy and welcome.
John Milburn (sp?) is the Wildlife Officer for Northern Ireland, and takes to do with Taxidermy, Falconry, Wildlife Crime etc. His number is 9054 6558, or the General Office is 9054 6502. John can be hard to get sometimes, tho' his office staff should point you in the right direction.
Keith.

Hi Andy,
welcome to the forum , why do you not have a bird ?........there are plenty around and there are plenty in N.I. you do not NEED to be in a club to own one , although it would be nice to be in a club where you can get help for one reason or another with your bird.
I joined the one and only Club in Ireland last yr before I got my bird ....dunno why though really , they where hard to get in contact with when I needed advice from them when my wee harris killed his first rat (which bit back ! and I needed advice for an infected foot )
I don't mean to put the club in a bad light but thats how I percieved the club.
I went to see a few of them at the gamefair to find their P.R.O only manned by two great lads, Sean and Paul .now for a club that has plenty members this was in my mind a poor show.
SO TO SUM UP , GET YOUR BIRD AND GET OUT THEREAND FLY IT .
Try a Harris hawk .thats what \I did

midge that day there was about 5 manning the stall, but no less than 2 people were able to be at it at a time, while others got to look about the fair. and dont forget we only have about 20 northern members. more could be manning but everyoen did there own thing, like yourself. which isnt a problem, but i just cant seem to understand how you can criticise other memembers not manning it
