Hello
I have lived with falcons, hawks, owls, and even a pair of eagle owls when I was young. My connection to the falconer is over ( ex step dad) but I loved living and working with raptors....except that loud angry barn owl lol. I want to start to road to becoming a falconer and so any help would be great. I know what it takes and I'm willing to commit though right now I am not 100% rooted in one place, so I am thinking of starting with a kestrel.
happy flying
joel

well I flew the harris hawk and kestrel. feed them. helped fix them ( he also did wild life rehab to bops, other bird , and raccons, skunk and other indiginous annimals) i watched tv with them and did homework beside them. all in all I was around them a lot

Welcome! Cool. Did the birds help you with your homework?
By the way, I don't recommend a kestrel as yer first bird. The Harris or red tailed hawk will be easier for you. They're higher weight, so less likely to have problems if you screw up at all. Better learners, too.....

they did help with a project i had on birds of north america, i got a good mark too. yeah i am thinking a hh or red tail is now the way to go. i just have to get all the damn paper work done and find a falconer who wants an apprentice, atleast it will mean i have patience.

Awesome. Well, if you're in Japan, I can introduce you to some excellent masters of the old Japanese falconry schools of falconry
