Casting

Thought it might be useful for some of the newbies if there were some posts for best advice on casting their new charge, for instance, making sure the crop is empty before casting and the bird has cast. Who uses a casting jacket? Do you consider it to be better to cast in a dimly lit room? How do you assess if the bird has had enough and is too stresssed?

Any suggestions?

IMO dont pussy foot about that'll just prolong the stress and frustrate the flaconer. gotta be firm, but gentle and just get straight in and do wot you gotta do. to cast jade i just use a towel and the light switched off.
