Sup. Im a PRE-apprentice and have a zillion questions so i thought this place would be great. I hope all goes well I could find a Falconer in my reigon which is Stamford New York im sure u ve never heard about this place but its not in Conneticut.
I would like to ask a couple of questions to start off with.
First. Im am left handed but my right hand is to weak to be the gauntlet hand so which hand should i use?
Second. If you guys could give me a good link that would do more than tell me that i need time and detication and money to be a falconer. (Although i do relize these aspects)
Third. How much money would you estimate making every thing by hand cost like mews and jesse's, anklets, hoods, ect....Im a teen and money is hard to get. im working hard and saving up for things i can't make. But me and my dad can make most of the stuff.
Fourth. Are Redtailed Hawks hardy in the winter(up state new york)? If not which bird won't die the first frost?

I have alot more questions but short and sweet seems to work better that years of typing my problems. Sorry for the random questions. THanks for your time.

#1 Go with your left for the gauntlet hand. You can still learn to tie knots and such with your right even tho you are left handed.

#2 Lots of time, but money is kinda like fishing, you can go fishing with a cane pole and can of corn and catch fish, or you can buy a $50,000 Bass Boat and catch fish. What you gotta remember is that everything you do is for the birds well being first, and your own monitary and personnal comfort second.

#3 It is hard to estimate that because I don't know your skill level on anything.

#4 RT are very hardy, I live in MN which has lower temps than what you have. We leave the RT's out in the mews on all but the coldest nights.

Welcome to the forum! Have fun.
