Hi All
I am making braided flying straps from Cow Hide braid (3/16th & 1/8th) or Kangaroo (1/8th only) braid..... at the moment I can make them for medium to large Falcons and Gos & Harris as well. I have made them with a stainless steel split ring 13mm or 10mm. The length of the one in the pic (knot to knot) is 15cm .... they can be permanently attached via the split ring (that could also take a bell) or the split ring can be removed and a small cable tie could be used instead as a permanent or temporary fixing.
3/16th = Large Falcon, Hawks
1/8th = Medium Falcon, Hawks
I will be looking at making an Eagle version to :D
Cost is being worked out at the moment...

Hi MM
Yes...I thought so.... but they are made to take a cable tie as well :)
looks liek it can easily get snagged, espeically with the ring

ok ..... ring is a no go then... but cable tied ok .... you reckon the braid would get snagged for Hawks?
hard to say, how tight is it braided?

As you can see from the pics the braid is very tight and when greased as well it will be even tighter. You can see that the cable tie is a much better option :D This is Australian whip braiding..... has to be tight :)

Griff, you know i am a big fan of your stuff and always recommend your hoods, but these are a big no no in my opinion:(
The bottom knot is tailor made to get snagged up in the fork of small branches when worn by any of the BOPs that sit in trees. May be ok for falcons.

ok....i respect all the views.... i wont be doing them for Hawks (Just seemed like a good idea) :D Maybe just for Falcons? I know that the same style is used by the Kazakhs for Eagles.... would they be ok in this country for Eagles?
BUT I will be making Marshall Magnet lanyards and Glove clip lanyards as well :D

I prefer flying with anklets only don't like all that clutter around the feet.
