Just been out for a few hours lamping with a mate, he has a webley spectre MK II i found the gun really nice, deadly accurate and fairly light.
Im just wondering how people rate this against the more popular s410?
What is the second hand market like for either of these rifles am i likley to be able to pick up a good conididtion one at a resonable price anywhere on the net?

I had no clue what you were talking about so I googled to learn...Oh my gentle Jesus! $800-$1200 pellet guns!?
You Brits have damned good taste...My knowledge ends at Red Ryder BB guns. ;-)
For good deals and second hand stuff, check out the following sites:

Cabelas sells high-end RWS pellet guns and they will price match most any competitor.

i think all Cabelas rifles are spring powered the ones adams looking at are charged with c02 so there no recoil and that makes them realy acurate
we make the most of our air rifles here coz there about as good as we
can get without a lot of hastle
by the time you guys get to the price range of the pre charged rifles youd be beter off geting a good shotgun and it would probably work out cheaper

they are filled with diving quality air from divers tanks not c02

i have an air arms S410 and so far iv not shot any other aiurgun, spring or PCP, that has equaled or bettered it.
its light and well balanced, silent as a mouse with the air arms silencer and deadly accurate.
the photo is a 10 shot group at 30 yards

Hi Adam
I have had an S410 Carbine, thumbhole and used a pointed pellet in it (cant rem the name now) and found it to be the most accurate air rifle I have used. I had it for a year and managed to do a good bit of damage to the local Golf course bunnies with it..... I had the bipod attachment as well that made things even easier.... every bunny died cleanly with head or heart..... Great piece of kit!
The other good thing was the allan key adjuster... to give you a better fps

cheers griff i really like the look of this rifle- allthough not to keen on paying around £150 more than for the s400 which is basically just a single shot version- saying that im after a multishot so will:lol:
how would you rate the carbine over the classic version mate?
thanks

griff allen key naughty naughty i would not recomend pointed pellets use domed far more accurate point has only got to be a thou off centre and it will turn that way think of concorde and its nose air arms field daystate ft and rws ar all good or if hunting and useing .177 go for magnum 1.77 is far easier to be accurate with but .22 has more stopping power but my thouights ar a poellet in the right place will do the job every time so i use .177 and a springer a air arms tx200 and it is just as accurate as any precharge i have ownd without the need for a charging kit

Hi Adam
Carbine has no less accuracy than the standard version... i tried both and found that the carbine was just easier to manage. Multi shot rifles are always best when doing a bit of pest control..... you dont have to move much when your in position and allows you to get onto to the next target that becomes available quickly. I used to do all my shooting in the prone postion and the telescopic bipod was excellent as it allowed you to rest on un even ground without a problem and also stay in position for long periods comfortably.... breathing control before the shot was easier as well and in most cases I found a spot that would allow me to set up in such a way that the rifle butt would rest on the ground .... so a steady shot was assured :D

pretty much ruled out getting the spectre, even though it is a very nice rifle due to webley going bust:roll:
So now its between the s410 and the logun solo??
Has any one shot the solo if so what did you think? there is a multi shot conversion coming out for it in the next couple of weeks and it will still come out about £150 cheaper than the s410, leaving enough cash to buy a stirrrup pump:)

go direct ,phone the AIR- ARM factory its in diplocks way hailsham, east sussex, cut out the middle men.the s410 carbine and the s410 tdr are both spot on you wont go wrong with either.the s 200 is very accurate as well, but its lighter and some of its made elsewhere(chekovslovakia or similar) and to me felt cheap, but it was just as accurate .

adam Adam at the end of the day the choice is up to you,but i would say to you ,dont get a logun ask your self why its cheaper and deffinately dont get a stirrup pump ,there ***** ,it wont last and the money you spend on getting one could have gone towards getting an air bottle .have a look about for a diving school or someone who does abit and see if theve got an old bottle ,have a look on the net for diving instructors in your area (maybe someone at the local swimming pool)or see if there anything on e-bay. but what ever you decide TAKE YOUR TIME

Guys,
I saw an ad in the latest American Rifleman magazine (NRA publication) that I thought might interest you.
www.gamousa.com
Gamo makes decent quality pellet guns for fairly cheap prices. The current ad is $219 USD for a spring driven gun with weatherproof stock. This gun has a set trigger and they have a decent trigger that somehow circumvents the classic hard trigger issues of some spring guns. Best part, it claims decent accuracy at 1200 fps.
Here in the US we don't see many really high end pellet guns because lawful citizens have pretty easy access to .22 rimfire rifles that sort of displace some of the demand. I know it isn't $1000 quality but I thought some of you Brits may like this fairly economical gun for your purposes.

Having been into guns for most iof my life, I can safely tell you that Gamo is no the best deal in town. If you are looking for value for in spring guns, go for BSA or HW.

Cost ?
Adam Barrett
28-08-2006, 03:21 PM
£535 for the gun, scope, mounts, ten shot mag, bag and pellets.
Not sure if im going to go for a stirrup pump or divers bottle, probly end up with a pump which will be about an extra £120.
If your after a air rifle mate, have a look at www.targetsports.co.uk. thats where im getting mine from and they are only in bolton so you can go over and see what rifle suits you best:yawinkle:

..........snipadam
go for the divers bottle :supz:
it takes a fair bit of pumping to fill a bottle with a pump and the air in a divers tank tends to have less moisture in it (as far as im led to believe)
i was told it could take up to half an hour to fill my rapid7 or other rifle with 400cc bottle with a pump
