Hello all,
Just researching the pros and cons of Falconry.Reading books making various phone calls etc.
I am generally looking for help/mentor to start up.
Going to meet up with the SEFG chaps at Winchester next month to bend their ears.
Im just a bit apprehensive about collecting that first bird.
Thanks for looking.

Just don't rush into things, at the end of the day its a case of biting the bullet, but making sure you have metal teeth to do it....

I do realise that this is a huge task to take on but is always something that i have wanted to do.
I am doing as much research as possible and cannot realisticly see myself getting a bird for at least 18months or more.
Is it worth me spending £500+ on a 5 day course etc as im sure i will only get tip of the iceberg experience.
Cheers.

if you could find yourself a good mentor and listen to what he says you could save a few quid, i'm not against courses but, you wont take all there is to learn in a week at a BOP centre. plus there is the decission of what quarry and land do you have, and what bird best suits your circumstances. a winter flying with a club or some one you may meet at a club would help in your choice. regards mick.
