Its been awhile since I posted so I thought I would give everyone who might be interested an update. HRT (Bane) is finishing her 11th moult. Hard to believe its been more than a decade. Stop and think back to the winter of '95. I was taking my first doubles of Fox squirrels. Lots of them since then. In no endeavor in my life have I been more fortunate than I have in falconry. A few close calls, a battered and beat up bird, a battered and beat up falconer. She has never embarrassed me or let me down. A nasty bird for the first few weeks of spring while the hormones surge but really not too bad. I keep wondering how it will all end. Dec 21st will mark our twelveth anniversary together. I have moved from Texas to South Carolina. Out my back door lies 520 acres of forest I have permission to hunt on. More squirrels than I have ever had before as well as deer and turkey and of course snakes. I am hoping to put the first ones in bag by mid to late Sept. Her tail will still be coming down but I know I will not be able to wait much longer.
