Hello to all you reading this thread.
This is my second season with a FHH and was wondering if anyone local to me is willing to take on an semi experienced apprentice?
I started my season so late last year that I only flew/hunted my bird for about 6 weeks boefore putting her to moult.....
If you (or know someone) who wouldn't mind a student following you around in the field and answering questions, I'd be extremely happy to hear from you.
Thanking you in advance for reading this thread!!

Bribe???? A bribe never known to fail is the offer to use your own hawking grounds. If you bought a bird I assume your have some game or vermin laden land to hawk over? If that is the case then say so and the offers will come pouring in.... if you havent why but the bird?:yawinkle:

Hi abs,
sorry i am a long way from you. I did work near Becton on the Norton Healthcare project and used some of the land adjacent to it to train a female gos. I was always a bit nervous that she was going to fly the thames, it would probably have taken me an hour plus to have got to the otherside.
Have you thought about joining the SEFG they are quite close to you I believe?
Good luck
Ivan

Goodfooter,
yes i have managed to secure some farmland near me off the A127, but not having much succes in nailing the bunnies......(I've taken her out 4 times since picking her up this season, she's had two flights but no bunny!!
I was hoping that someone more experience can point me in the right direction as i know there's rabbits in the land.
I am getting a couple of ferrets to increase my chances, yet again someone with experince will go a long way....
hope this answers you question and someone to take me on......
cheers abs:goodman:

Went out with Steve Wise (Buckinghamshire) on Saturday, what a fantastic bit of land he flies on and a great set up. Althought we had about 8-10 slips each we wern't fortunate enough to nail any bunnies that day!!
A day out with an experienced falconer gave me a confidence boost!! I thought I was doing something wrong, but Steve assured me that the bird was trying it's best and it's just a matter of time!!
Thanks Steve and the Wise gang!!:goodman:
