I sold my van last week, leaving us a 1 car family, which is awkward as she takes the landy to work, and i am having trouble getting to my hawking grounds. SO i am going to buy one of these "doublecabs" this week hopefully, and i like the mitsubishi L200- has anyone got one/ had one? need some feedback asap.
These sort of machines sound perfect for me, 4 seats in the front for when ive got the kids, and a back seperate for hawks, smelly wet dogs and dead rabbits.

The Nissan Navara or Toyota Hi Lux are better options.

It's thirsty, 6000 miles service intervals, drives like a tractor.

The Nirvara or Hi lux drives better, better on juice and longer service intervals.

I liked the idea of the double cab too. I opted against in the end though. What about all those fumes that can get in when stuck in traffic? (for the same reason I dont like trailors). As they are meant as work vehicles, anything in the back isnt in for a smooth ride.

I went for a shogun, lwb, four seats in the front and enough space in the back for a dog and hawk, both the toyota surf and landcruiser offer even more space though.

I had an 04 Navara from new. Cracking vehicle in every way apart from the rear leg room. OK for kids but a bit tight for adults.

I had the hard top for the back and a load liner, plenty of room for all your hawking tat and can be hosed out after hunting.

I test drove all the available vehicles in the same class and this was by far the best IMO.

I've had new shape L200 Warrior for six months. Also have BMW 520 and we prefer the truck as the family car any day. Drove from Ayrshire to London and back (800 miles) with wife and two kids and was perfectly comfortable.

12000 miles service intervals. Averages about 28 mpg combined driving. More rear leg room than any of the rest I looked at.

Birdless at the moment but suits me for dogs and work gear. Point to consider if you're VAT registered (which I am) you can claim back Gordon Browns cut.

ive had an L200 from new, bought it in january 2002. Never had anything go wrong with it at all, never even changed a light bulb. Its got loads of dents on it though because the turning circle is terrible. Sometimes you have to do a 3 point turn just to turn a corner on a car park and getting in and out of parking spaces can be a nightmare. The fuel consumption is terrible unless you never go over 50mph. The leg room in the back is very small, the rear suspension has antiquated leaf springs so the ride especially for rear passengers can be sickly and bad on the old back. I've remedied that problem to a degree though by running with 18lb pressure in the tyres. Offroad it is great but the road tyres that are fitted as standard are near useless in mud. I've put on a narrower tyre, with an intermediate tread pattern, they look **** and are noisier on the roads but they cut through mud and grip.

cheers. it was reet smart and tarty. All the front was fancy- fancy cd thingy, air con etc and the back has a liner so when it gets covered in sh*t i can wash it down. The canopy was good too, one of the farmer style tin ones, but it was painted green and had the mesh door and also a security door too. perfect!:supz:
