Am thinking of building up a kit in advance piece by piece before I can get myself sorted with my own bop. Anyone have any do's and don'ts regarding a glove? How do I find out which size I'd be? I am shadowing one or two guys at the moment with FRT & FHH, although I'm looking at these or a decent sized falcon. Any thoughts? Thanks.

best to someone who sells them where you will be able to try some on! get one that isnt too tight but not hugely loose, and one you can move easily in - my first i can barely grip which is no good for handling a bird but i now have one from falconry crest which is good quality and i have more control! or try on the gloves of the people you are shadowing and go from there! Nubuck gloves i hear are quite nice too!!!!

If you can't try a glove on before you buy, fax an outline of your hand to the supplier. They should be able to either make you one or pick the best size off the shelf referring back to your hand size.

Don't scrimp on the glove - a well made glove should last a very long time. It will probably need re-stitching before the leather is worn out.

'Buy quality' as David Dickinson says :D

Thanks. Probably best to politely point out that the nearest place to try these on would involve a ferry crossing then approx. 200-300 miles drive, so not too good an option, or I would just do it. Will give the outline thing a go instead. :)

I had the same problems as i live in John O Groats, mail order is the only answer , i would recomend Ben Long gloves , u can get all the information online at www.benlongfalconry.com , but would advise u draw round your hand & send it with your payment, u will not be dissapointed with your glove. If u are looking for a glove thats a little cheaper but still a good glove u should try , www.mikesfalconry.co.uk , hope thats some help.

Many thanks to all. :) Now the proud owner of a nubuck glove from Julian. Was nice too to be supporting one of the site sponsors, and I'm well chuffed with it as well :goodman: !
