I have just seen a huge flock of Fieldfares. Not a mixed flock, just Fieldfares (except for a greater spotted woodpecker!!!). They were flying in over open mixed farmland and desperate to get into the overgrown hedge at the side of a country lane. This allowed me to get very close in the car, although they would not stay in the hedge as I drove past. The woodpecker did though. It had used the flock as cover to move from one place to another.
There were big flocks of corvids also. These were mostly rooks, quite a few jackdaws, and some crows. They were wheeling around, being very aerial. It prompted me to look for a large BoP, but nothing.
Two miles further on and a similar thing was happening with a big flock of Black-headed Gulls.
I don't know if the latter two flocks were migrants.
Have any of you seen migrants recently (Avian!!).
