I fly 2 pere saker males I recently wormed one of the birds due to his weight fluctuations. He has not cast for the past week or so despite being given castings. My initial thought were because of the worming however my other bird has not cast for the past few days either their mutes are like a really watered down pellet. Both birds are in pristine condition and flying fine. I have spoke to someone who said its nothing to worry about but I would like some more reassurance ..... please.
Kind regards Chris

Chris,
Are you feeding chick and are they hooded a lot.Sometimes I have seen a bird fed on chick for a prolonged period start to mute what you describe as watered down pellets. Also if they happen to be hooded and cannot cast through the hood they will often mute out large large lumps of yellow matter that would have otherwise come out in a casting. May not be the answer you are looking for but is based on previous observations.
Hope it works out,
Neil.

One things for sure.
I may not know a lot about falcons but its either casting it or ****ting it.
If it was keeping it in it would not survive for long!

Maybe worth offering some rangle? and a change to rat or quail for a couple of days.

My six year old female gyr x prairie has never cast a pellet when fed on day old chicks, they go straight through her, all i get is a large yellow lumpy mute.

I have had similar problems in the past.
First time, I found that the beloved hound was having breakfast! Bless her.
On the other occasion, I witheld all casting material for about a week, then fed casting material that was bulkier than chick fluff for about a week, then gradualy introduced a little chick fluff on an increasing scale along with the bulkier material.
Hope this helps.

sorry to bump this.

My f saker is doing this right now and has been for 2 weeks, started for no reason, diet was not changed (doc and mix of rabbit, mice etc).

Is there any real problem with this? what do you think is the best thing to try?
