To be honest I've been thinking of taking Bellas Bells of as she fidgets around on the fist and her bells are a pain when trying to stalk the last rabbit in Wales! she's like a bl**dy morris dancer on acid

this is not something i would do and certainly not on a regular basis
if the telem packs up then you have nothing
a tail bell is a must in my books for a harris i also use a leg bell aswell
they don't seem to hinder my birds hunting
good luck to you though if you go down that road :supz:

Joey, I never fly with a bell on the Kestrels, Trx only. If I flew them with bells I promise you our bag would be reduced by at least 75%. The other falcons are flown with 2 Trx and one bell, no exceptions.
Cheers,
Jeff

Absolutely fine,, as long as you can keep the bird in view!!!! wich in many types of short pursuit you can,,and you WILL catch more! the problem arises when your bird makes a kill, out of sight, unless your very quick tracking, with telem , the bird will enjoy, a great gorge, and be happy sat in the tree tops!! believe me I know, ...somtimes benifical, sometimes not,, ps, you dont have to take them off, just put a little insulation tape , over the slit!

Wise words Merger, and I certainly agree with the reasoning. The merlin sized bells I would have to use with the Kestrels are extremely hard for me to hear. But the quarry hears them almost instantly. I've tried them both ways and found that I can find a lost bird Much quicker with telem.
Don't let them fool you the first thing that goes when you're over 50 is your hearing, not er um well you know. Besides I'm a longwinger isn't that what we do, Track *****!
All my best,
Jeff
