When i picked these guys up they showed the usual straight out of the chamber antics, bting and twisting like mad.
When i got home i left them hooded in the quiet to settle down after their long journey.
Tonight i tried each one for a while on the fist.
The largest of the two wen straight into the fury mode when i struck his hood but after a while he started to sit then stand on my fist.
I gave him abou 10 mins to quieten then offered him some chick.
He did not show much interest, rather just glare at me.
I pulled the legs of the chick and wiped his beak with one, he made a couple of lunges at it and then gently took it and ate it!
I tried another and he also ate that then just looked around so I hooded him and put him down.
Next i tried the other one, got him on the fist and struck the hood!
He went ballistic, calmed a bit for a rest then ballistic again then sat on the fist but all puffed out.
No way would he feed yet so hooded him.
Chalk and cheese i reckon, maybe that is what i should name them?

So reminiscent of manning my gyrsaker earlier this year! Never come across a bird that could bate with so much gusta! He didnt just flap he threw himself towards the floor and spun himself round.. Settled enough to eat day 3 i think it was. Hes lurverly now though, total angel. Keep us posted on their progress, they're stunners! And please dont call a bird "cheese" its just cruel :P

Update!
Unhooded the manic one, quite a few bates but then started to calm down, no inclination to feed yet and still a bit wide eyed.
Kept her on fist for approx twenty mins and then put her down.
Took up the larger one who again had a few bates and then settled had a couple of rouses and ate another chick leg.
Offered him a chick and he showed interest but would not quite commit.
I squeezed and massaged his toes a bit and this did the trick and he started eating so slipped in another chick which he also ate.
It looks like we are on the way with this one, maybe the other one tommorrow.

Followed the same lines tonight, success with the calmer bird who ate 2 docs and let me feed him by hand. Seems very calm hopefully will go on to be an easy bird to train, not the other, still glaring and bating like mad.
Amazing the difference in siblings, still onwards and upwards!

The calm one starting to chill now, a bit batey when i go to pick him up but no bating off the fist.
Both birds a doddle to hood, just sit there with no head bobbing at all!
The awkward brother switched on today and started to stuff himself on a couple of doc`s, a lot calmer on the fist but i still have to be aware of my movements as he will still bate unlike his brother.
I do not want to over feed them as i want to keep them keen enough to want to progress through their training.
Weights are 1lb 141/4 ozs for the calmer one but he has been eating 2 doc`s a day whereas the other one was 1lb 13 1/2ozs but had not eaten since the weekend.
Went to fly " The Lad" today but due to a big road accident on the way time and weather was against me. He is a well presented bird and praise must go to Dean for this and Berkut for keeping him in fine order.

Both birds jumped to fist for doc off block, weights 1lb 13 3/4ozs and 1lb 13 1/4ozs.
Still hooding okay and much steadier on fist unhooded.Taking more interest in their surroundings than me now, with just the occasional glare!
Will have to think of names for them?
