Hope this works, just looking at some pics on the net - this one is listed as a Black Gyr/Saker. The size of it!

Very nice bird indeed. I seen some pretty large 3/4 gyr/sakers, but my guess would be that this is a female 7/8, for sure. Nice bird!!!

That guy is only 4' 10", so it makes the bird look larger. LOL

There might be a big truth in this. You have to compare it to a standard sized falcon so you can tell the acctual size of the bird.

Fred,
At first I thought someone had hacked this site with some porn using Falcon911's moniker. Then I realized with was just another big falcon. The question is how does it fly?
I suppose I'm simply a skeptical old fart who isn't impressed with size. I'm impressed with heart and the way a bird flys, nothing more.
I've been having what I consider terrible problems with my intermewed passage gyr. Tonight she flew like her old self. So hopefully this problem has passed. I gorged her yesterday and today. It isn't that she was low since she'd only a few onces under trapped weight it's more that she got a little wild eyed after her night out. So, for the time being all is well:rolleyes:

Brad,
I totally agree with you. Way too many folks get caught up in size. Every apprentice here in NC always wants to start out with the biggest female red-tail they can. I know, I did. Just comes from inexperience. You end up getting with them a few years later and they are flying nice mid sized males because they are quicker and more airel. I currently have a nice sized female, but I am turning her loose in the spring and plan on trapping a nice male as I want to see if I can get him to fly on crows and possibly ducks. I have some ponds that are in the woods and they always have ducks on them. Everyone tells me to get a gos, but I am not quite ready for one yet.
Hope your gyr is finally on the right track, let us know how she does!

Fred,
Best redtail I ever had was a 33-36 ounce eyeas male. 77 bunny hoppers, 10 pheasants and about a million mice the first year. Slicker'n snot on a door knob as far as I was concerned. Plus he'd home from as far as 7 miles away so he could kill my chickens:yawinkle:
The gyr seems to be acting OK but tomorrow I'll try to get her on some gamebirds of one sort or another. Then we'll see how her mind set is. She ain't sick or nothing just owley. Tonight she flew like her old self so maybe the **** is overwith until the next great adventure
