My advice is to stay with the HH until you have left school and can drive.

Then have another think :yawinkle:

hi ya sky i know i haven't been keeping bop for long but from what i have learned from the peoplei have spoke to and reading the threads
i think that as you are only 15 years old and still at school you would have to think how much time you have on your hand as you will be doing your exams soon and think long and hard about it plus how much money it would cost in vet bills if you ever needed to take it to a vet for treatment if needed
and also what you are going to do with the birds if you go to collage or work
PLEASE dont take this the wrong way but the bird always has to come first.;)

I think the above replies are very sensible. If you're thinking of hunting with a big falcon you'll need to be able to drive, and you'll need a great deal of both land, and the spare time to fly over it day in, and day out if you want to make a success out of it.

For what it's worth, my advice is to stick with what you have till you have the necessary time at your disposal. This way you'll avoid being disappointed.

I have to say you all make perfect sence, thankyou for your advice.
The reason i would be thinking about getting a falcon is very dependent on what i do for my job. For instance if i cant find an apprentiseship or something similar in falconry etc i will be going to sparsholt collage almost defently, i will have to sell my hawk or put him in with another harris for breeding, which i am not looking forward to doing.

Hi
If you will have to sell your HH or put down for breeding if you go to Sparsholt, why are you thinking of getting another bird. Surely if you won't have time or space for a harris you won't for a falcon:confused:
Why don't you enjoy the bird you have now and make your decisions based on facts when you know what you are going to be doing. You have many years ahead of you, not like some of us old ones:yawinkle:

I must have writen it wrong but i ment to say, depending on what i do e.g. if i go to a collage i obveusly wont be getting another bird.
But idealaly i would get an apprentiseship or job doing some sort of falconry.
And if i did get that then i would probably think about getting a falcon.

an appretershit in falconry would be good but at 16 when you leave school would you be prepared to leave home and move miles away?
there are always openings coming avalible with some of the big breeders or even centers your best bet is of course pest contol but almost every job requires a driving licence, and as i said falconry is hanging on tender hooks with the threat of AI and the goverment do you really want to plan your life
around such an unpredictable thing, get a related skill like country side management and when something comes up take it but if it gosetits up you won't have to get a job at asda, :)
