MFA (Snowshoe Hare) Mini-meet

Over this last weekend the MFA(Minnesota Falconers Association) had a Mini-meet in Duluth hosted by a good freind of mine. We caught 8 hares in really thick cover with 6 Redtails, 8 Harris's and a Gos. As a testiment to Reds they caught 6 Hares to the Harris's 2. As I said the cover is really thick and a good crashing Red will do better in it. 3 Reds had doubles including Tasha's.

My Harris after not being flown since NAFA looked at the snow and the white rabbits and said "No way am I chasing that". He did try a couple shots at the one cottontail we found but was s****ed off.

We had a great time after the days hawking at our Host's house in the woods of Northern Minnesota.

I am sure that Tasha will write more.

Cool. Sounds like a fun meet. What do those hares weigh? How big are they compared to black-tailed jacks?

Ben Ohlander....NAFA Central Director with his freshly entered Gos. Only has two bunies under her belt and the cover was a bit thick so she didn't connect. IN another month she will be going strong and I am sure will catch one.

She is hooding ok from what I saw. I don't get together much with him untill the snow flies and we start hunting pheasants.

Tim she is raised in his front porch but as I remember with just front part open with mesh or somehting similar. He was bringing her food withouth she could see him. He was going inside and took her out, hood her etc....
She is flying around 1050 grams, I was holding her on the fist. Top bird, very calm with good feet size.

Dan that was 180 miles north of me. they only had 3 inches of snow on the ground that weekend. Now there is none, it has all melted. Global warming ya know.
