Hi , out with my pocket rocket again today , he really is a sweet little imprint a joy to handle, i put him up over the cattle shed again , ran in and started flushing starlings , there wasnt as many as yesterday , although i was a bit earlier, i ran outside after flushing about half of trhem and louie, was stooping like mad there pretty hard to catch starlings , omly ecer caught them with tiercel prairies, and spars, they always keep there head and cant be far behind crows in inteligence , i have seen them watch a approaching falcon [perlin] and as its come over them drop into the long grass and watch until its out of position then go like b****Y hell in the other direction , they are difficult to pin down and i have only done it on lucky occations putting the bird up at distance , anyway he stooped hard at a single it was shrieking for its life which must mean it new it was in trouble, it took refuge under 5 horses , falcon stooping at it relentlesly , dangerous as horses were running all over the place , watched from the next field as i new if i went into the field probably make it worse , hedge all around field so wasnt supprised to see starling make the hedge , reflush wasnt a option as by this time damn horses galloping around the field , back in the barn , flushed a few collared doves this time , just ovoiding the stoop , these also are cunning little gits , seen spars hunting them on the farm , and they certainly aint easy, back to louie , multiple stoops at doves , he goes away a bit then comes over at a killing pitch , 100 up , depends whats being flushed, single dove in a willow got him right over me didnt dare move for fear of flushing to soon , big lump of chalk whistled past doves right earole , s***t itself being attacked from the ground as well as the air , didnt flush first time , these arnt silly either , they can sit quite tight with a falcon over them , anyway another well aimed lump of chalk moved him , just missed him in the stoop , over to my left spotted a magpie, now i admire magpies very adaptable, however if i can kill one using any means i will , especially with a hawk , he hasnt seen any with me , beaters are essential , and as a hawk every day havnt got any until the weekends , so i ran towards him calling louie over , flushed him and had 2 good stoops before he made thicker cover , louie been on the wing about 30 mins , which seems like an age , so brought him in , flew well today didnt kill again , but talk about exiting , should have a beeter tomorrow , maybe even 2 , we shall see , sorry if i have gone on a bit , once i get started , he are some pictures , cheers , mark.
