Theres a fair amount of subspecies of peregrine about, so i was wondering what or if there a difference in performance between them?
I've heard the peales can be abit more tempramental and agressive?
People with barbarys would help aswell :)
Thanks

I've flown barbaries (LOVE THEM). Brookai and Peales. From my limited experience, the Peales can be difficult. The breeder of the peales I flew told me these birds required a rich diet, birds with red breast meat, such as ducks. He told me that since the primary diet of the peales is gulls and other birds with red muscle meat. They need a richer diet. I noticed that my peales needed a larger portion than other falcons I've had. I would supplement the pharoh quail diet with turkey drumsticks. The drumsticks are good for my older birds which need additional calories in their diet. Or for birds with a high metabolism.
The brookai I still have is very nice and mannerable. The barbaries I consider to very smart and pick up training immediately.

Hi,
I've flown African peregrines, Scottish peregrines and Red-naped shaheen. The African is a more serious bird, is quick and aggressive, the red-naped is playfull, fast and agile and good tempered and the Scottish peregrines are good natured, good hunters and a good size.
My favourite peregrine was a little male red-naped shaheen.
regards
