Here is an eagle hood I affectionately call "Showgirls", this is for a hood collector in the US. All figures are carved and then painted.

Nice artwork, do they take long to do ?

Thanks Dave,
Each figure takes about an 1 hour or so to carve and paint. I should have put more tooling on that hood, it was an experiment really for a friend, I am going to make another with extensive designs on the hood with the same showgirls I think..

Once the braces are put in, I am very sure the eagle will not get this hood off. I have not decided on leather, web lon braces or something even wilder,, up to the collector..

Sj - It was a double meaning.Didn,t think for a minute there would be a problem.Nice hood by the way.

Berkut, I knew what you meant but I thought I should clarify that this hood has braces..
If they do flick it off you are in BIG TROUBLE!!

Ken, looks great:supz:

Nice hood (and the engraving/pictures:yawinkle: )

I like the stitching, any chance of an inside view of how the stiching pattern is achived. I had hoped to attempt my first stiched hood, but have had other committments:cry:

Stealth, I am sewing hoods tomorrow so will send some pics, it is pretty simple though..
Sorry am sick of making hoods for the rest of the day, had to get 25 out before X-mas and frankly do not even want to pick up a needle for a day or two ..

Stealth,
Got big bills to pay!! That is all the motivation I need.Seriously though, you will find once you get into a routine you can have 5-6 going at one time in different stages of production,,it just takes awhile to get the hang of it..
Thanks DD

I have tried a bit of stiching and now ready (when I get the time:rolleyes: ) to do a stitched version.

Got some thread......., got some wax........ got a "brawl" (if that's what its called:-| ) to do holes........., dampen the leather first.... and away I go......... Some time this week!

But I do like the look of the exposed stitching:yawinkle:

Looks good:supz:

Good luck, I too am a big fan of exposed stitch work, all my hoods that are sewn are sewn in that fashion. I certainly like the hidden stitch and those that do it and are good at it,, I tip my cap to them. I have made them but much prefer my style..To each their own..
