Just looking for opinion of those who have much more experiance of imprinting than myself.

Last year I imprinted two young birds a home bred Lanner and a anatum Tiercal

The Lanner never seen me give food always taken to her dish she cuddled in anyones and everyones lap when fledged tamed hacked and eventually ended up doing 40 odd passes to the lure . then placed in the imprint chamber at about 6 months old. altho she begs and chitters to me she is no longer the cuddley bird she once was ..

The tiercal was done slightly diff I didnt pick up until 20 odd days old
he was quite "snarly" to begin with so was fed by hand never a cuddly bird

when tamed hacked he natrualy very high .. which paniced me a bit because he seemed much more independant (and expensive) he was reigned in and placed in his chamber
Now he is doing well food passing bowing echiping and flying to the hat as soon as i enter chamber
very handleable and friendly

The questions I am pondering is this has he just matured quicker (do males tend to do this)
Has the different iprinting approach made a differance

Its very early for the Lanner (prob to early to tell) yet so not realy worried but am amazed by the tiercal

be intresting to me to here other peoples views or experianced
Regards Jez

Have to say I am new to this imprinting/A.I lark but I imprinted a Peregrine Tiercel and Falcon and I would agree with the gender bit. It helps a lot to have them on a block also. Keeps them focused on you.
Cheers

Just my take on things but I think its easier to make a very good job of any imprint male than a female (Behaviour wise)
The only real stumling block with males seems to be "fear issues"
And ultimately, these are relatively easy to avoid.
