Did the bird need to be imped?
Didn't you cast the bird so it couldn't jump around?
I think he should jut grow another tail feather in the moult

Do I have this right?
You accidentaly pulled a feather out while imping because the bird flew away from you?
Ignoring the obvious WTF  ......
You then reinserted the dead quill into the bird where it had been pulled from?
Cant ignore this one so.......WTF
I dont believe what I have just read, I hope I have it wrong and its a language barrier thing!!!!!!!!!!!!
If I have understood things the best thing you could do is leave the bird well alone!

I understood you almost perfectly by the sound of it!
putting the feather back in would be the most stupid thing I have ever heard in over two decades of falconry!
Putting the quill back in could cause a lot of damage to future feathers.
There is nothing to gain from this.

Take that feather back out!
And next time cast the bloody bird you are trying to imp! There's a reason it is common practice!
I honestly can't beleive you tried to imp a bird free in a flight. Even if she was perfectly tame there was still nothing to STOP her from doing something like this.

Why were you imping her? You didn't mention she had broken a feather? Just that you were imping her as it's close to the end of the season?

ok, she had broken a piece off her mid(right) tail feather and i imped here cause i only did it once before and needed some practice in that, also if it's the right before the moult. she normally sits still and was manteling over a rat so she was calm(and she perfect when i cast here i do alot) but the needle was already in the feather that was broken(loos piece), the glue was on the other end of the needle i only had to stick it in and that moment ..... the male came by.
now i can't return time i have learned from that in the futher i will cast a bird for tail work. but now i just hope the feather will grow back perfectly i will keep on flying here for 2 weeks and put away for moult.

Was she being free-lofted at the time? With a male?

At least you have learned that birds should be cast for imping.
You wont forget that in a hurry! :goodman:

You can practise imping with chicken or pigeon feathers... Even on some old kestrel feathers if you want. Practise makes perfect, so next time you need to imp you know exactly what you're doing!

ok now the next problem.
sunday lost the feather.
thusday it looks like the next one is altready there for 3 mm.
is this normal or is this abnormally fast ?
what do you guys tink. should she be put beside cause she is a tail breaker. has the not-natural talent to do so. should i fly here still for 1 and a half week or should i stop now ? cause i want stronk tail feathers next fly-year.

ps: she has already bin imped 3 times before (and was casted than) so i knew what i was doing.

Are you shore you actually pulled the fether out and it didn't just come out when you were holding it?
If that was the case then she is just moulting?

well i'll put it like this she pulled it out with ease. i mean she wasn't puling that hard it seams she didn't have a decent grip (when she jumped) and she wasn't flapping (hard to explain)
25/2 she will be cropped up every day for moult, that is the date she gets here vakation. she flew 25 weeks, 6 days a week, thats 153 days of flying.
