gos 2.
two days freezing will suffice .
once it's frozen its frozen.
there are no benefits from the extra 28/29 days in the cold zone.

You don't need to go bonkers here. You are not feeding a young eyass that is developing and growing all it's feathers in at once. The molt involves a few feathers at a time and if you will look at the wild birds, you will see that they do not feed so lavishly. You can feed them one staple and sort of toss them an occasional varient now and then and they will do just fine. I have molted many a hawk on nothing more than chicken necks and occasional road kill, after they have wiped out the freezer of seasonal kills. I do raise pigeons for that purpose as well, and feed about 75 to 100 pigeons them per year, along with the necks. I buy 80 pounds of necks about every 4 or 4 months. Hawks eat a lot, even if I just feed them enough to keep them at a healthy weight. You can make them too fat.
For what it is worth, the yolk in the DOC is meant for a baby chick that will not eat for a few days of hatching. It is extremely rich in fats and will make your hawk super fat. It is not healthy for a hawk to be fat any more than it is for one of us to be fat. If you have a hawk that is a bit under weight and needs to be fattened up, a few of these yolks will do it. And if you do not have DOC's, crack a few eggs and give them yolk by dredging some meat in ot. I use a large hypodermic and inject a bunch into chunks of meat. Works well. But I do not make a real habit of feeding it to them.
