There are 2 differnet method to tanning the leathers:
1: mineral tanning: In most cases they are painted to get a more natural colour. U can clearly see the bottom of the leather is grey. Its too torrential for jesses, but fine for gloves, coz its soft and not so sensitive to water.

2: vegetal tanning: These leathers can be painted just as the mineral tanned ones, but in the bottom of the leather these are some shade of brown. These are very strong and good for jesses. Also these are very good for hoods, becouse this kind of leather have a great plasticity when watered and also keep the formed shape after drying(blocked hoods).
