When you are keeping count of what your bird catches in a season does anyone count mixy rabbits in there scores. Be honest now.

The reason i ask is that i am flying a young male HH who has spotted and taken 3 mixy rabbits in the last week. Now i would class him as entered as he has crashed in and caught and has shown willing to chase anything that gets in his way but i wouldn't include them in the head count at the end of the season beacuse they were all mixy. The first 2 were quite far on with the mixy but the 3rd wasn't to bad. Still wouldn't count it though.

I count everything..lets face it there natural instinct is to catch the young old weak and stupid so at end of the season, how many really clever game has it caught ...none is the answer to that question cos if it was tip top it would be sh...ging this spring and not in your freezer... it caught them ...give it its due..

Please look up the true meaning of falconry then buy a rubber and sort your game book out.I had a gos kill a duck that couldn't fly,if I felt I could count this as legit game then I would have abandond falconry and started shooting rabbits at 2 foot away with a cannon

I dont actually keep a specific count of anything I catch on paper as such...after all, its not about numbers but to kill something and just assume it doesnt count is a bit of a crime ..for want of a better word.. I'm sure your gos was chuffed as punch with the duck ..even if you were a little disappointed...

never botherd with head counting as its not that important to me its the flight that counts and the safety of my bird

as I said I dont physically count the amount of quarry..I have to admit to making a mental note of the differing species that end up in my game bag...too lazy now to write tham down, although when I first started I used to write evrything down... but I wouldnt discount anything.. including the mice they occasionally take... neither do I sit and talk about the 1000 billion rabbits , hares etc my bird took this season .. a few spectacular flights do stick out in my mind... but many of us pray for that mixi bunny when we are trying to enter our hawks.. and how many of us have taken a pheasant or bunny that we have virtually stepped on and let our birds go to catch it within yards of us .. is this fair game or do we discount it... how many rabbits have hit a fence when we think theyre gonna make it.. do we discount them...when we are close to an unsuspecting rabbit and we know our bird will catch it ...do we step back10 or 15 yards or do we try to get another few feet closer... is this fair game?
your right head counting is not the way to go ..and it is about the flight, but nothing should die in vain...even if it has got mixi..
