Hi Guys,
I thought about using my female harris ( shikira ) for lamping as the weather hasnt been kind over here in N Ireland these past few months.
I took her out tonight into the field with a dummy bunny and tried her on the creance a few times and then let her free fly, she was hitting the bunny off the fist first time every time but it was the way she was hitting it that was odd.
she seem to fly beyond it, turn in mid air and then hit it, which brings me to ask, Is this normal for a bird who hasnt flown at night before or am i not doing some thing right ??

if your flyig down the beam of the lamp her own shadow may effect the depth perseption hence the over flight.....also if you do this at quarry the shadow will alert them.....bast way is to try and get the bird to come across towards the beam and quarry. difficult on your own but easier with two.....

that my view anyway;)

Myn used to do that, it's all about homing there sences i think, she will get the hang of it, also she may think if she gets ahead she has abetter chance of catching the rabbit

will soon learn to stay to the left of the beam, then come in at the very last second, keep the rabbit lit tho, so long as you know shes still to the side lol
