May be interested. Not sure yet though i have a 6 year old saker here that you bred. She is calling me when ever she sees me when i go in with her she places her beak on the floor tail up in the air ect. If i apply light pressure to base of her tail she will move the tail over to one side. What i was hoping was when or if she lays the first egg maybe i could catch the last one or maybe two (i know i would have missed the first two by the time she lays). But i havn't tried this AI before so it would be a trial by fire but worth a shot really
She is a big bird flying upto 2lb 6oz but best at 2lb 4oz. So i think she would make a cracking mum. Hopefully i can get a video of her behaviour up soon and we can see what can be done! The gyr semen would be a possibility also.

Well i've just took a couple of pictures of her anyway. Warning they are a bit explicit but the foreplay ones have been left out :supz:
What i really need to know is when is she likely to be ready for insemination she has not as yet dropped her knickers completely and started pulsing (i know what you lot will say so leave it out!).
All the time i'm in with her she is chupping without a break.

u could wait intil she has laid her first egg then inseminate at least u know shhe will lay for u. Maybe someone with experiance will help answer your question

That was my plan all i wanted was to be ready incase she does lay which she looks like she will. Otherwise i see it as a missed opportunity, its not for the money i would be happy with one bird this year.

Chris has she laid before and have you made a note of the laying dates from previous years if she has?
Until you are sure that you know how to inseminate her I would suggest that you use Peregrine semen on her. Pere x Sakers are good birds and IMHO a better hunting bird than a 50/50 Gyr x Saker in most cases. The actual cost of Gyr Semen would also be prohibitive and you would be hard pushed to cover your costs unless you produced a few Females.
If you are unsure what to do and would like to see it done then pop down and see me and I will show you and if the timing is right then you can take some semen away with you and start to inseminate her.
Perhaps Mike would like to join you, you could ask him
Regards
Terry

Mikes not a big AI fan he came round mine to look at her today as we where on route from picking up a gyr/rednape that went walkies off the landfill
Anyway this year will just be a trial for her as she has not lay before we have only had her for two years. She came from a fella called tony in london but is one of your birds. You may have imprinted her yourself? The first year we had her getting her to moult out was a priority as apparently she never moulted the year before! Strange! Anyway we did it and flew her to the lure this season she was hard work but we made progress.
Now she is in full reproductive mode she is scrapping in her nest ledge standing, displaying calling me constantly. She is a real pleasure to be around at the moment. I did email you and you gave me her parents details but were unable to provide anything else because of a computer problem you had or something?
To cut to the point the breeding would be a bonus and seems a shame to miss but AI is all new to me and it may take some time to learn. What i will probably do is just wait and see how things pan out this year and go for it if all goes well next year as she is 5 at the minute (6 this year) so plenty of time. But i like to keep my options open :supz:
Thanks for your time, Chris
P.S. the offer is greatly appreciated and something i'll get back to you on if thats ok?
