Out hawking all day today....Not bad weather at all and I even got one bunny....all in all a good day. I had to leave early to pick up my Girlfriend and go drink some beer....Said goodbye to the rest of the group and headed home....about an hour later one of them phones me and said that someone had broken into their trucks while they where in another field. Two trucks had their windows smashed one had a wallet stolen and the other had a purse and a full camera kit stolen including a very expensive camera lens and the camera body too.....sorry little ********!!!!! I would love to string them up by the balls!!!!

I can only hope they are caught but the likely hood is pretty slim I guess. If this ever happened to me I would be livid and justice could not be swift or harsh enough. I also wonder when people will learn not to leave stuff in vehicles. I'm not saying it is their fault for leaving stuff in the vehicle but if they didn't it wouldn't be a temptation for the thieves.
Cheers,
Bruce

Couldn't say it better Greg!!! When the time doesn't fit the crime, it's to tempting to do the crime. We should go to chopping of fingers for stealing and I bet the crime rate would go down.

These clowns didn't even know what was in the vehicles when they broke into them. Total crime of opportunity. They saw three vehicles on the side of the road with no one in them and took a chance that it would be a decent score. My camera equipment was in a non-descript bag in the back seat. I lost several nice lenses. Sad part is if my camera battery hadn't died I'd have had it in the field with me.
At least they left the two receivers and the two red-tails in the back alone.

At least the motive was theft and you were not being targeted by tree huggers for being cruel!
Been there!

Greg how true is that mate.Over here everything has to be locked, alarmed caught on video ,immobilized etc, instead of making sure that the thief NEVER wants to suffer the same fate second time around.

Those little butt munchers stole my purse, but if they had taken my bird I would have hunted them down and used their various body parts for bird food!!!!!!!

Farmer. Some years ago someone was trying to break into a local's place. He stuck a gun out the door and commenced to shooting. No blood trails so he didn't hit anything. It was in all the papers:yawinkle: No one has ever bothered him again.

Hey, isn't this the second time it's happen. I thought Krys had his truck broken into last year. How about an alarm system?? Years ago, while flying my RT a police helicoper landed in a field next to my old beat-up VW station wagon. They thought it was an abandoned or stolen car becasue my windows were down. After recovering my frighten bird I walked back to my car. They gave me a lecture about leaving my car unlocked with the keys inside. Something might be said for having two vehicles - a nice one for every day use and a beat-up bird-bomb truck for hawking. Go ahead break in the doors and windows don't lock anyway:rolleyes:

No handguns allowed at all?
I seen a little wall plaque once that read, A first in history, a gun free society. It was signed by Adolf Hitler. No guns? We have guns here. Lots of guns. I suspect that the trucks were broken into by homeless people looking for crack money. It is not safe to go to the better hawking spots alone or unarmed here in the Metroplex. I can tell you some scary stories about that. I do not hawk alone. I always have 2 representitives from Smith & Wesson with me. Some people feel sorry for the homeless people. Most of them are like that because they can think of nothing but wine or crack. They will kill your ass for what change is in your pocket.

They were not homeless people. I have never seen homeless people in this area. Aaron and I actually scared off the thieves, before realizing it. As we started heading back to the trucks, a newer model Tahoe pulled off from near our vehicles with 4 young men of Mexican decent. Apparently after they passed me and Aaron, they hung their heads out of the Tahoe and were yelling at the others still in the field. They didn’t get to finish the job, because they left a purse and camera equipment in the second vehicle.
On a good note, a person found my drivers license about 15 miles from where the cars were broken into and mailed it back to me. I called him to thank him.
