Thank you Game and Pursuit Falcon UK (http://www.gameandpursuitfalconuk.co.uk)
Could you tell us how you would go about preparing the registration paperwork in a situation where it is not absolutely certain which male fertilized an egg.
Perhaps some input form the larger breeders would be helpfull.

Why don't you ask K your self he is your partner isn't he. How would you go about it Jessica babe.:)

Jessica has no dealings with 'Game & Pursuit Falcon UK' at all. I have other irons in other fires though.

Not sure where you got the partner idea from, but you shouldnt believe rumours:rolleyes:. I do know Karl and I pay his center an occasionally visit when I'm hiding away from the wife or during the season when he has spent months teaching me to handle his Eagles, but I honestly have absolutely nothing to do with his breeding falcons, despite what some may tell you. I dont even go into the AI pens during the breeding season.

Yes I could ask him the question directly, as I did with my previous questions about semen handling temperatures, however I do believe this is something others could learn from and while no AI breeder seems to want answer those questions online, I will ask in a few days if I've not had an answer and report back to those who may want to know.

I'm not sure what I would do if I was in the situation where I needed to register a bird that I didnt know the exact father of.
I guess the two options would be either DNA tests and prove paternity that way or simply complete the paperwork to indicate the chick could be of oneo r the other male.
Those would be the options I can think of, wht do people do who've faced this question for real!!!

Now if we could just move away the partner line of thinking, I'm comforted to think there's not a single rape bird in his collection and that's not how he does things, but he has weird ideas and I dont need him getting plans to inseminating me!!!!!

Glad this thread is going in the right direction.
Does anyone try to bring their birds on using artifical light, ie extending the daylight hours in order to stimulate the birds hormones.
If so what type of lighting, reference tube types?
I dont breed raptors, but I do use Arcadia full spectrum lamps with my breeding parrots.
One of my customers is a supplier of these lamps so I get them at "we owe you a favour" prices but you could check them online at Mico Lighting (http://www.mico.co.uk)

Interestingly I use them to keep the Kakariki from going into breeding condition around christmas.
Basically as soon as the clocks change in October the lights go on for 22 hours a day until the 21st of December at which point I reduce the light hours by half an hour a day until we get to the normal winter daylight.
By about the second, third week of January we are down to normal winter days and as soon as the birds start noticing the daylight increase they start mating and nest making.

Without the lamps I end up with two some years three clutches of eggs hatching just before christmas and then I have the cost of having to heat the aviary or I lose the babies and the mothers get knocked out of cycle till much later in the year.

Who genuinely wants to learn AI, Breeding and Rearing chicks?
If you do contact me I am looking for another member of the team who is willing to put in the hours and show dedication to producing the best Hawks and falcons that we can.

I would like to learn the subject of AI as I am considering a small (not big commercial) breeding project for the future. At this point in time it would be best for me to enrol in a course due to geographical location.
