harris nails

hi bit of a prob with my harris hawks nails he is just about lost all they just seem to brake off i been giveing him bogna multi vit and also liquid propolis any help would be brill :( :confused:

How about some pictures....Something does not sound right....What are you perching the bird on? What kind of mews do you have? Is it breaking them while hunting? etc....need more info in order to help out

how long you had birds for mate, i assume you mean talons, i never heard of the addatives you mention but then again i don't and never have used em, someone with a bit more experiance may help but it sounds a bit too serious for a novice as me to comment, dietry requirements cannot be met with suppliments and it would be far better to replicate a natural diet that goes for all living things not just birds, i would seek a vet, and in you're case by the sound of it sooner rather than later!

ecky this im interested in as my brother is having the same problem we was out 2 wk ago and we watched the harris take a rabbit in front of us.we went towards them and blood everywhere which wouldnt stop luckily one of us had a first aid pack on em with one of those sticks which stopped it but this is the second talon what has broke.the only thing we can put it down to is the mud on the recently moved avery floor instead of gravel but if anybody has got a answer for this im all ears ...ian

Mud floor !! why not take him to an avian vet...

is the bird getting a good quality diet with plenty of calcium.
as if its losing them all time, you either have very bad perches or theres
something wrong with the bird for it to keep happening.??
