Hows this rate for being a dick?

I was on my way over to Karls(Game & Pursuit Falcon UK) when I saw I was running low on fuel.
Pulled in to fill up but there was no diesel!
Unleaded or ultra low sulpha diesel were the only choices available, both green pumps!

You guessed in, filled the Shogun with unleaded

Got about 8 miles down the motorway and it started to run and sound a little "funny" then stopped altogether.

After getting the jeep home on a trailer, draining the tank, refilling it, getting it going again and finaly just having washed petrol out of my hair  I dont feel too bad about it anymore!

What a dick!

ive done the same thing its very easy to do pal but you have to see the funny side dont you lol

its very bad if you put petrol in a diesel vehicle
but you can get away with no harm if you put diesel in a petrol vehicle aslong asyou dont run it to long as diesel is a oil...ian

Not sure of a peacetime use for your Piesel, but our infantry in the SADF used to use something similar to extend the range on field mortars.
Doesnt do the mortar tubes a lot of good though!!

I can understand managing to put unleaded into a diesel tank, but how do people manage to put diesel into a petrol tank??

Dont they notice that the nozzle is too thick to fit in the filler pipe??

The reason the manufacturers do this, simple, a diesel engine filled with petrol will simply not run because petrol does not combust under pressure or heat, it needs a spark.
Diesel in a petrol engine on the other hand is going to ruin the fuel injection and oxygen sensors, and if the engine is hot enough when the diesel goes in, it will combust when its compressed, but a petrol engine is not designed to take the force of a diesel explosion and will probably damage the cylinders, valves etc.

Once saw something very funny happen with someone who forgot diesel combusts if its pressurized!!

Or burning the skin off your hand because you didnt attach the nozzle properly. Oooops, I think I promised never to mention that, or was it disconnecting the gas union??, no it was the gas union I promised not to mention!!

I didnt break down on the M62 as such, I crawled along the hard shoulder at 0 mph for what felt like a week then got down the jct28 sliproad.
Stuck in in neutral, built up some speed on the off ramp, ran the lights and pitched it onto Tingley roundabout
with no power steering

on a shogun/pajero fuel related topic.

i have a leaking fuel return line on my 2.5TD shogun so thought i would try an online part search for a replacement.

one breaker wanted £25 + vat + delivery total £37.75
another wanted £30 + vat + delivery total £40

tried a couple Mitsi dealers to see how much a new one was to compare.

one wanted £19.50 + vat + £2 postage
a local one in aberdeen will be £20.50 + vat.

HMMMMMMMMMM tough choice
do i buy a shiny new part or spend twice as much on a used part
