FlameHF, thank you but I rather enjoy listening to Wilfreds worthless Babble!!
Two of the Greatest Hoodmakers EVER (John Moran and Ron Rollins) have endorsed my hoods. in fact Ron uses my Khan hoods on his bird abatement sakers daily..So Wilfred's thoughts and opinions really do mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to me. John and Ron and the literally hundreds of satisfied birds and customers is all I need to know that I make a good hood.
Perhaps said individual doesn't really know as much as he thinks!!
Dan that Elle4 that is pictured is YOUR HOOD it is on the way to you Expresspost this AM..

So where are my postings and why on earth did i receive this message below! I know it is all about politics and protection of mr Hook whatever hoods he will make no-one is allowed to comment on it. But i do and will continue since i simply do not like them.
I insult people???? bulshit! If i do...most people here do...this is just about saying something very true about quality of some hoods but to some guy that is protected by some people...friendship politics and the like nothing more nothing less....
If you all have guts and think you are OK..just keep this message stayed here! But i know you are all politically very incorrect there...so it will be removed probably this one.
Go on and keep protecting mr hood...but like i said i do not like the hood that is not insulting just giving opinion. when he places the hood here for opinons..why only accepting the positive ones?? very childish and immature!!!!!

Right people we need to play nicely here and bare in mind NOBODY is beyond anything on this site, well except may ** but that is another story:lol:
Respect each other and say what you have to say in a respectful manner! That way nobody gets told off or threads being removed.
For what is is worth I thought the one pictured is one of my favourites you have done!

Thanks Hawk master I do like the hood as well, it is becoming one of my favourites..As for Wilfred, I will NO longer even comment on his posts bashing my hoods.
Frankly he is not worth the energy it takes to punch out a reply,,

Thank you PB78, Kev your comments are much appreciated..I am working on some different tooling and some real neat dying techinques for the Elle and a few other new hoods that are on the drawing board..
Again thanks,
Hello Saker , what about the hoodmaking book or video ?
SakerJack

Paco I have about 60% of the DVD/complete. I was to go to visit Dennis Maynes in late March but we had a death in the family and had to postpone my visit. I am planning on visiting Dennis in May to complete his part in the vid.
I am then attending the NAFA Meet in Colo this November. On the way there I am going to visit friend and master hoodmaker Scott Webster, he will be doing the segment on sewing(hidden stitch) dutch hoods and his very unique dying techniques..
My segments on tooling dying etc have just wrapped up with the making of the latest Dutch hood the "Elle".
I have some other tricks up my sleeve and another segment that maybe added later about John Moran but that is still up in the air..

Hey Dan, glad the hood arrived,, it looks good but I should make you a hood1/2 size smaller,, What do you think?
Chris, to each their own as per fit especially with the beak opening?? As I have always said I MAKE ALL my hoods to cover the soft tissue gape of the mouth. I will make no other type.
I have spoken at length to John Moran and many other great masters about this and most are in agreement that it is the best and safest way to secure a proper fit..
NOTHING WRONG with a more exposed beak opening, nothing at all but I and many others just prefer it this way.

I will keep that hood because that Lanner/Lugger on the pic is a rather small female to compare to my other Lanners. That hood will fit better to my others birds. That female on the pic will be gone to the States shortly and I keep my hood anyway.
Sorry Ken I should of send pics of my other Lanner wearing it but she is on a task of "propagation" at the moment so...

SakerJack
13-04-2007, 12:59 PM
Badra,
Thank you, I would get a few patterns and some leather and just start to make them. I am sure all hoodmakers started out the same way.. Practice, practice.
Go to the April hood submissions to see many who are starting out and watch their improvements.. Its amazing!!

Thanks PB78 I too am a big fan of Southwest Indian art, in fact our house is full of it, Buffalo skulls, Indian war bonnet Native American art and drums,, very Cool I think..

19-04-2007, 07:11 PM
Yeah, same here. I have some Native American stuff around. I like the look of the Northwest Indians, the Chinook people among others. (Hence the name of my bird!)
I would like to have a hood one day with a design like this on it, the hood would have to be in somewhat matching colours offcourse. Only the design would have to be a bird of prey, not a whale. Seems more appropiriate for a hood. :yawinkle:
But I like the style and the colours.
I will have to save up for a custom hood a bit first though!

PB78,
I have done a few hoods in the Haida Indian colors with their much revered raven as a symbol , they use brilliant colors that go so well on a hood..
They also have a great deal of respect for the Bald eagle..

I like Haida Indian stuff, with the bright colours (like you say).
I have drawn a picture myself and coloured it. It's in the style of the Haida, with black white and red colours.
I would like to see a hood with that picture on it some day. I'm thinking a black Dutch hood with lighter, maybe white, eyepanels with the picture on them.
I'll see if I can get it scanned and I'll show you.
