Cumbria, CA23 3DF.Forgive me for being a little resigned towards the hawk boards and our plight, but having been heavily involved from a falconry p.o.view,with the british field sports society regarding their fight to prevent the hunting with dogs bill. im talking contacting along with councilors and reps, local and national m.ps taking them out with the birds, contacting the major unions who support the labour party,witnessing first hand the setting up of a department of full time reps from various backgrounds to lobby and drill up support, and asking for our labour party levey [ all union subscriptions pay this as standard] to be withheld from the party,and even threatening along with hundreds of other guys to stop paying subs? all this and much more just to lean on the goverment,and to point out that hunting of any sort is a predominantly working class sport, and hence will affect direct the vote at the election! all this plus millions of pounds worth of lobbying the goverment from all sorts of angles, and still we failed.The hunting with dogs bill was the main war which we lost,that was the time for all to unite but still we failed,i feel if we are picked on our numbers and money wont scratch the surface, i suppose ive a big advantage over most on the forum,as i seen and battled first hand for 5 years,the millions put into all sorts of angles to try and protect our heritidge,i feel the best thing we can do is to try and regulate ourselves,keep idiots out of the sport. even well known guys can do this sport major damage, as an example, M Calvin hunting a nature reserve some years ago,witnessed by the R.S.P.B made headlines in the local press, we all have a responsibility to conduct ourselves properly...colin
