On a cold but cloudless day a few of us braved the tops of the frozen snow covered hills of the Scottish Cheviots. But we were not alone above us , having difficulty finding enouigh wind floated Kyntyre a female golden eagle. Just as the great Bird ,giving up her struggleto find lift ,turned to land a rabbit bolted. with effortless grace and power , Kyntre wheeled around, slanted her wings and swooped. The rabbit was hit within 50 yards and the momentum of her attack spun Kyntre around 180 degrees and took her skidding down the hill in a great flurry of snow. She righted herself before mantling proudly with the rabbit held fatally in her awesome grip. Indeed the trickiest part of the day can be to persuade Kyntre to give up her Quarry.

The wind was blowing off the hill so we decided to move to the next corrie where the wind would assist Kyintre to gain lift. Our other member of the party was Ben a gorden setter who checked the wind in search of anything lying out and relentlessly pursued the smallest traces of scent. Here the wind was ideal and Kyntre was launched off, and like a deadly chinese kite she soared up on the wind to a great height and immediately began hunting back and forth over our heads, combing the area. Suddenly a shout, Ben had pushed a rasbbit out from behind a stone wall and it raced up the hillside.
Kyntyre folded her wings , and from well above hill top height, plumetted out of the sky in a breathtaking vertical stoop , she did not miss.

As the sun began its descent and the wind dropped, we made our way back to the Land Rover. Kyntre would wait untill we rounded the corner of the hill then fly past us to the nexr vantage point and wait for us. Nearing the Land Rover a rabbit chose an untimely moment to break cover and Kyntre swooped in from her forward position hitting thee rabbit close to us with such force that it dissappeared into the snow. A fitting finish to the day.
