All our birds are insured with Golden valley,
Only heard good things about them,
Our premium is £600 a year but is well worth it,
£12 excess on claims,£2500 per claim no claim limits.
Insured for half value if they fly away and arn't recovered.
peace of mind is the main thing for us but also we are not in a financial situation where we could afford a big vet bill. Also when we have taken our birds to the vets the vet has said its much better with insurance because he can do everything in his power no matter what it costs.

hope this helps

Also some vets will operate a "lay away" plan where you have an account which you can put money into and use whenever a treatment comes up.

I am with Golden Valley, heard nothing but good for them, not (fingers crossed) had to claim yet, costs me about £10 a month for my FHH, but worth it, very helpfull company :supz:

countryside alliance or BASC both give 3rd party insurace so long as you have written permission. as insurance goes I'd rate this as no 1 priority ....

I have been a member of both as I used to do a lot of shooting (before I discovered how much more fun it is with a hawk:supz: ), and I have to say if your from Scotland SACS is excellent.

Well said Ian. I still use SACS for shooting, but also use it now for the hawk. And its not just available to Scotland, they will take on members from any where in the UK & it covers you for shooting, Hawking, Dogs, Fishing & Horses.
They recently took on one of the large Horse Hunt groups from down south.

i use exotics direct aswell i pay £106 a year for my fhh. it includes £5000 vets cover for illness and cover against loss theft and death. though they dont cover if you bird is attacked by another animal and only cover loss up to half the price of the bird and only if it was wearing a telem. though it also covers the birds housing against any damage.
hope this was of help.
