Anywhere you can have access to a grouse moor on a daily basis with a guaranteed 4 - 6 points per outing. Had such a piece of moor 10 minutes from my door but over the years it was so overgrazed you would lucky to see a grouse or a clump of heather there now.

Yes loads with trees and HEDGES all over!
I have one good spot though for ducks!
Trees and hedges shouldnt interfere too much with duck hawking as long as your pools are not heavily lined with trees or woodland!

Devon is not it!:cry:For me there is more to game hawking than grouse not my ideal quarry for a game hawk but then different strokes for different folks.Give me a good sized piece of water with mixed duck or a cock pheasant way out on a huge field of rape, as for location anywhere open enough to get a decent pitch and shot at the quarry before it makes it to cover.

Those fenland pheasants in mid-winter are an awesome quarry for any longwing,a good friend of mine lives on the fens and i get over to him as much as i can, the drains also hold lots of different wild duck nervana in the UK.

For grouse hawking it has to be the Caithness flow country, very short heather, wide open flat country, very short heather, easy walking not a tree or bush for miles around and very tight sitting, honest flying grouse. Not a car, powerline, fence or other person in sight. Its like a mini Idaho. Its heaven for the whole outdoor experience and the gamehawking is top class too. There are other places in the UK that have set ups that are just as good but no where with the same surroundings and that's just as important to me.
Or, anywhere that has lots of mixed ducks. Wherever you are chances are they'll be slips to be had a ducks nearby and cover and enclosed land isn't so much of an issue with this quarry. Coastal districts seem to be the best for migrants and from what Ive heard or seen the north-east coasts of england and the east coast of Scotland have masses of overwintering/passaging ducks.
DALWHINNIE,scottish highlands
good grouse and partridge for the game hawkers,
plentiful blue hare for the austringers and eagle men,
and scenery out of this world, atb ned.

It is 900 miles from my door to weasels door, so you should be safe down there in the heat.

Just not looked at a lovely place but not enough game around.
THE house was great and property for the birds too.
Oh well any more suggestion?
