hello everybody,
I am planning a trip through northern america to learn about the falconry there. My special interest would be the longwing flying in the great plains, but I would love to get a wide range of experinece about the state of art in the us and canada.
Has anybody some advices for me, where to go, who to ask, etc.?
would be very gratefull for suggestions.

About all we could offer you here is some longwinging and gyr trapping, boring stuff compared to what a lot of others are doing. Oh yea, I forgot the tame wild goshawks.

Ya just don't want to come here in the summer month. I'm usually in an evil mood. Come cold weather I brighten up with a spring in my step and a grin on my face.
Eastern SD and Western SD are two different places. I'd say about half of this country is farmland. They did the
despicable by planting trees in the east to slow down the wind erosion during the dirty 30's and never quit planting them. Now that was Global Warming at it's finest! It worked with the erosion but ruined the view. We still have prairie but you have to go further west to get away from all this corn.

Let me know when you want to be in the " great plains". I dont do much longwinging, but can hook you up with longwingers here in Kansas, and can show you prairie-grouse hawking with short wings, as well as jackrabbits etc. We have a meet here in Dodge the end of october, another in January then again in March. My dog breed club ( wire haired Vizslas) will be having a hunting meeting sometime in January in Kansas also.
Just let me know.

well,
i'm not in the great plains but rather west of it(Idaho, actually). don't know if you plan to come this far west but your welcome to stop in. we fly ducks and partridge with peregrines until freeze up around the end of November. than switch to sage grouse and partridge with peregrines and gyrkins. if you like very remote country this is it.
