When naming my bird's,i generally try and find a name that means something to do with hunting in another language.Greek or Arabic etc.Or failing that i look at films which have had bop in them and use name's from then.
For example,
my eeo is called Kia (name of an eagle in a film)
When i get my 2 hhs they will be called Sharak (she who hunts) for the female, and Nazir (revengeful warrior).Hope these ideas help.

Okay, here's my secret method for naming falconry birds. Pick a favorite movie and name all your birds after characters until you run out of names then find another movie.

For the past three seasons I've flown, "beatrix", "kiddo", "Bill", and now "Rufus", anyone know the movie????

Since I work with computers, I started out naming my birds something that had to do with them and in alphabetical order. First bird was Alpha, second Byte, third Chipper, etc. Then I got a hand me up Harris that was already named, so I kept her name and then I got a hande me up Red-tail, and her name was Addie. So my naming system was messed up. I now just name them according to what comes to me when I get them or have had them. When I told some falconer friends I was pulling an eyas coops last year they kept making comments about how I was going to have a coops attached to my face or I would be wearing a coops hat. So I named her Inya (In Your Face). On the way to a NAFA meet in Kearney, Nebraska, we passed through this town called Ordell and the guy I was with immediately said, that is my next birds name. LOL. So I guess names come to different folks in different ways.

I admit, I'm a bit of a Tolkien fan, so I'll be naming mine after the great eagles named such in Middle Earth.

Such as Thorondor, the Lord of the Eagles, or his brother Landroval. Though I must say Gwaihir is my favorite, he is the eagle that rescued Gandalf from Isengard and Frodo & Sam from Mordor.

I have an endless store of names in my head, in the end i just go for whatever seems to suit the bird, i usually find something will "jump out" at me.

I am awful at picking names, so I came up with a naming scheme, hawks get names related to beer (Kosmos, orignial brewmaster of Shinerbock) while falcons get names of places I've collected insects (Boeri, lake in the carribean i collected and Mescalero, pasture in west Texas where i did 2 months of collecting)

I hate picking names, too. My first bird I named Harley cause I have always wanted a Harley Davidson:supz: I am tempted to get a male RT this season just so I can name him Fat Boy cause that's the Harley I want!!!

When I was having to name lots of education birds (as well as other animals) I would pick names that were popular at teh time...mostly from the movies.
