Just a thought...has anyone attempted flying a golden on coyotes. I've seen the video footage of goldens taking wolves overseas. Coyotes are everywhere here in the US. Would it be possible to call coyotes in with a predator call to create a slip for an eagle, or what about lamping for coyotes at night. I can think of lots of places to get slips for them, and every rancher in the state would give you permission to hunt on their land.

Yes you can call them in with a predator call. Wild eagles will show up as well. Dont know if I have any pictures from that far back but I'll look. Oh btw, do scars count?:lol:

Over the years I have had eagles take coyotes, it can be done but only under curtain contitions. Goldens do take coyotes in the wild but mostly the younger ones. The truth is an adult coyote is a dangerous target, and it takes a very strong female eagle to handle one. The risk to your bird would be great, but on the other hand goldens do take them. The male that I am currently flying on his first free flight took an adult down and had it. As I came runing up to help not sure what I was going to do but anyway the coyote broke loose and ran off. The fox is a much better tatget eagles can take them easier. But to see what power speed the golden eagle has fly it off the fist at black tail or white tail jack rabbits. Now that is a flight!!!!
