Comming from Zimbabwe(Africa) iv always had a love for these Majestic Pit Bulls with wings!I was lucky enough to know a falconer in Zim who flew a female!I always used to think it took either guts or or sheer lunacy to fly one one of these. He hunted Vervet Monkeys and small antelope with the Crowned and of course the odd German Shepard that wondered to close to her perch! He also uses her for lamping which was also entertaing at times, especially when she would mistake a fully grown cow for a Diker or something like that and the next thing you know theres an eagle attached to a cows ass running through the bushes!
Anyway,is there anyone in the UK or any other part of the world who flys one of these?
Hi and welcome to the forum
Do you have any pictures you could post?

Hi there you lucky b*satard!!!! Was that Andres eagle? Not flown one personally but it is still my goal for the future. The ultimate off the fist eagle for large ground game though still not sure how the plumage will hold out over here!! Andrew Knowles Browne was/is flying a female in scotland i believe. Love to see some pics if you have any?! Regards James

I am flying one at the moment. She is moulting so her flying is just a mere daily exercise cause she is still way too fat. This bird is incredibly powerful, agile and not too big.

She is one year old and her fat weight is 4.2 kgs. She is moulting at the moment and I fly her for exercise daily at 3.6 kgs but this is not her true flying weight she should be flying around 3ich. She is not a hugh bird but hugh feet, tarsus, thigh and claws.

The glove I use is tripple thickness eagle glove elbow length. It's enough for now. This glove is so thick that you can't move your fingers. My eagle isnt agressive at all she has perfect table maner. I can get away more with her than most of my hawk eagles. However she doesnt like any other people to get near her, she will raise her hackle and leaning forward in an attacking position.

Today I had a close call at a stray dog. The dog ran out of the bush and all the sudden the eagle flew up high about 15ft and turn 90 degree in the dog direction and just missed it, the dog ran into the nearby bush and the eagle landed on the ground. I couldnt see if the bird made any contact by I heard the dog screamed. The dog is no small dog, it's very similar to a dingo. I have never seen anything like this, the intended prey was so large and yet the bird really went for it.

Some pics I took of her today. Her plumage has changed abit from earlier pics. She does have bad attitude toward other people she even try to have a go at a photographer while he was taking pics. Her feet are enormous for a bird this size. I must be lucky that she hasnt lay a scratch on me yet.

I have not strated hunting with her yet when I got her she has already strated moulting so I just train her as smoothly as I can. She is still fat and I only fly her for daily exercise. I will try to catch macaques this season. Although she is big but she is extremely agile beating her wings like a gos and she can turn in tight corner as well.

She is agile because she belongs to forest dwelling eagles.
But, my IBE is flying like Golden Eagles, making it vulnerable to be shot by people...
Btw, awesome bird you have there mate!
I really want to feel her grip on my fist ;)

what a bird....
nice eagle bro...
Beautifull bird! They tend to take a lot of their prey on the pass from tree-tops in the wild. Does she have any tendency to carry? I wouldn't like to have to go in & give the coup de grace to a macaque in her feet.

She did try to carry in the earlier stage but now it's gone. She has the power but she has never exercised it on me. I can even supply her food with my right hand while is sitting on my glove and that is a no no for any birds.
